Sturgeon Spearing Tagging and Registration Requirements 2-7-2018

Hello Sturgeon Spearing Enthusiasts:   Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource conservation wardens have received and answered a lot of questions leading up to this year’s spearing season. Wardens wish to remind sturgeon spearers of the following often asked questions about regulations regarding tags and registration.   Spearers are required to be in possession of their paper license/ tags while spearing. Immediately upon harvest, successful spearers must validate their tags by removing the validation stub from their tag by cutting or tearing at the dotted line. Incoming cold, snow keep good times going in Eagle River Forecasted snow and cold temperatures expected this week  SNOWMOBILE TRAIL REPORT (as of 1/29/2018) Snow is forecasted for Tuesday night, and cold temperatures have found the area. Current trail conditions range from poor in town to good in the tree covered areas. The groomers are keeping up with the heavy snowmobile traffic to ensure a safe, smooth ride for all. Outdoor Report January 25, 2018 (View in browser) Snow landed across several northern counties this past week, allowing more counties to open snowmobile trails and additional properties to groom ski trails. There now are about 20 counties that have snowmobile trails open or partially open across the north on the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s Snow Conditions Report (exit DNR).
