Gary Engberg is a professional tournament angler, fishing guide, and writer. He began fishing tournaments in the early 1990’s and has fished the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail (PWT), North American Walleye Association (NAWA), Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC), World Walleye Association (WWA), FLW, and Mercury Nationals in the years since.

Gary is also an accomplished writer, photographer, videographer, radio and t.v. show host, seminar speaker, and an advocate for getting children involved in the outdoors. Gary’s writings and columns can be found in many local, regional, and national publications wich include;  Midwest Outdoors, Fishing Facts, ESPN Outdoors, Great Lakes Fishing and Hunting News, Simply Fishing, Buckmasters, In-Fisherman, Muskie Inc. Magazine, The Fishing Wire by Berkley, The Outdoor Wire, Midwest Angling, Wisconsin State Journal Sunday Outdoors, Lodi Valley News, all newspapers of News Publishing Co., the Hometown News Group, and Country Line newspapers.

Outdoor Horizons is one of south-central Wisconsin’s top outdoor radio shows with WTDY 1670 AM and WTDY 106.7 FM in Madison, Wisconsin being the flagship station. Professional anglers and guides Tony Puccio and Gary Engberg are the co-hosts of the show in its 14th year. Fishing, hunting, conservation, and anything “outdoors” are discussed with interviews from some of the nation’s experts in their respective fields. Gary also does a “Gary Engberg Outdoors” radio show weekly on WBEV 1430 AM (Beaver Dam) and WTTN 1580 AM (Watertown) owned by Good Karma Broadcasting, and is also a regular guest on Wisconsin Public Radio with Larry Meillor and National Public Radio (NPR).

Engberg has fished in most states and Canada for all fish species. But, his favorite fishing is for walleyes, smallmouth bass, muskies, and panfish. When not fishing or participating in other outdoor activities Gary has raised Labrador Retrievers for 30 years and now lives on the shores of he Lower Wisconsin River with his 2 year old famale lab, Katie.

Gary has won many awards for his writing including the “Readers Choice Award” from Midwest Outdoors. He also has been honored for his stewardship in starting the Wisconsin River Clean-Up and awards from the Wisconsin DNR for his service and working with youngsters in the outdoors. Recently, he was inducted into the Wilderness Fish and Game Fishing Hall of Fame. The NPAA recently awarded Gary for his continued work with getting children involved in the outdoors.

Gary is available for speaking seminars, hosting events, and children’s events. He’s always willing to help and give tips to anyone who asks or contacts him.
