MEDIA ADVISORY

Conservationists to Provide Informative Press Briefing on the Polluters Over People Bill (SSAB/SB24)

What: Special Session AB/SB 24, the Polluters Over People Bill, constitutes an aggressive rollback to decades of conservation protections, as well as a backdoor attempt to promote mining. Because the bill is long and quite complicated, members of Wisconsin’s conservation community are providing a briefing for the media in advance of what is expected to be a large hearing on Wednesday. This bill is expected to move quickly and could be on the floor as early as next week.

Experts on hand will include:

Lori Grant, River Alliance of Wisconsin
George Meyer, Wisconsin Wildlife Federation
Amber Meyer Smith, Clean Wisconsin
Jodi Habush Sinykin, Of Counsel, Midwest Environmental Advocates
Anne Sayers, Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters

When: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.

Where: State Capitol, 300 SE

Notes: The hearing on the Polluters Over People Bill will be a joint hearing of the Assembly and Senate Natural Resource Committees. It will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 11:00 am in 417 N.
