Clements Fishing Barge Fishing Report 4-14-2011
gengberg April 14th, 2011
Can you believe all the water we are getting. What a year. This is the first time we can ever remember the river being this high for this long…and it isn’t over yet.
The river is suppose to crest here sometime Friday or early Saturday. It really hasn’t gone up much the last couple of weeks, but enough to bother everybody. There has been some fish being caught. We got some walleye and sauger off the barge, near the shorelines on each end of the float. Some got a couple limits. Nothing huge, but a few nice fish. There have been no perch caught off the barge, it is too fast for the perch as they will be pretty tight to the shorelines. Boats are getting some really nice perch and they are just starting to get some blue gills as well. Shoreline has been pretty good as well as down the rocks on the Wisconsin side. We are still open and like I said getting a few fish. The river is suppose to start dropping early next week, Monday or Tuesday. It won’t drop very fast but we will take what we can get. Fishing will be good all during the receding water as the river will remain clear during that time. Look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.
We also got in a larger supply of the Elk River Rods. Everyone who has bought one has not only been excited about using them, but most will buy another one. You can’t buy another fishing rod in the market of this quality for these prices. The guys we get them from put a lot of care into each and every custom made rod. They do all the work themselves and it really shows. You can go out and spend $350 or $400 for a similar fishing rod…but why would you want to do that. You got to see these rods to believe me, ask dad to show them to you in the shop or use one of mine out on the barge. I will even sell mine if you like it!
