*EAGLE RIVER, WISCONSIN, Snowmobile Capital of the World.® All 100 miles of trails are OPEN in the immediate Eagle River area, and full
grooming has resumed on a daily basis. Warmer temperatures have thinned and
softened the snow cover on the trails somewhat
. Trails are generally smooth
and flat, but have an ice base beneath them, and can now be classified as
being in fair condition
. With ice under the snow, slow down, especially in
the corners, road crossings and sun exposed trail sections, where there can
be developing ice, slush and scattered rough patches. There are areas of
snirt (snow + dirt) in town - -such as in the Dairy Queen area.
The lake trails, Catfish Lake Loop and Eagle Lake Trail are open. Stay by
the reflective orange barrels to be safe. There is a buildup of slush on
the lake trails. Just drive through at normal speed- - you don’t have to
speed up or slow down. Just go through the slush in a regular way
. Do not
go on any lake that is not marked with a trail. There are many anglers out
on the ice. (Eagle River provides some of the best ice fishing inSnowmobile ER
Wisconsin). Be very aware of their presence, don’t get too close, and watch
for ruts as you travel near the ice fishing areas. Lots of riders are
enjoying themselves in Eagle River- -you should be up here doing so, too.

Here is some important and detailed information about the trails, safety and
snowmobile opportunities in the Eagle River area:
The 100 miles of snowmobile trails groomed and maintained by the Sno-Eagles
snowmobile club in the Eagle River area and are continually inspected.
As you ride you will see six inch brown signs along the trail and at
intersections. Keep an eye on these. If you have a problem call 911 and
give them the three digit number.
The sheriff’s department can pin point
where you are. The sheriff’s department can’t always find you by your cell
phone signal. Many times they have to work off the ping from the tower,
which could take more time.Pond hockey 2 ER
If you are riding in this cold weather make sure that all skin is covered.
It doesn’t take much to get frost bite. Layers of clothing work the best.
Stop often and make sure you keep your sled full of gas.

Trail 13 south has been re-routed due to a landowner closing a section of
the original trail
. At the intersection of Trail 13 south and Trail 70 west
behind the Dairy Queen in town, Trail 13 will now head west on the 70 west
trail. It will continue west until it intersects with what is now Trail 7
south, heading south and then connecting to the Sugar Camp trail system. Continue Reading »
