Wildlife in North Carolina Magazine Publishes Spring Outdoors Guide
RALEIGH, N.C. - The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has published its Spring Outdoors Guide, a seasonal bonus issue for subscribers to Wildlife in North Carolina magazine. The special issue highlights fishing, turkey hunting and warmer-weather recreational opportunities across the state. It includes a full-color fish identification feature on species found in North Carolina waters, a comprehensive list of marinas and boatyards and an easy-to-use chart showing the location of public boating access areas across the state.Turkey Randell Mack

With spring fishing always a favorite activity, respected outdoors writer and now Wildlife in North Carolina associate editor Mike Zlotnicki contributes a couple of angling articles, “Spring Into Bass Fishing” and “Springtime Slabs Beckon” on crappie fishing. Fly-fishing isn’t overlooked, with “Less is More: Adventures in Small Stream Fly Fishing,” an article on the charms of hidden mountain creeks. All are illustrated with photos by award-winning outdoors photographer Melissa McGaw.

If boating and fishing aren’t enough, several pages are devoted to the other popular tradition of spring, wild turkey season, with a primer on hunting strategies useful to beginning hunters and veterans alike.

Wildlife in North Carolina is published bimonthly by the Wildlife Commission, with bonus spring and fall outdoors guides. Subscribers to the magazine enjoy exceptional color photography and great articles on hunting, fishing, natural areas, wildlife research and the state’s environment in every issue, with one-year and three-year subscriptions available online.Crappies pancake big Continue Reading »
