Gary’s Blog: Come to Sauk City Now to View Bald Eagles 1-19-2012

gengberg January 19th, 2012

Last weekend was the 25th Bald Eagle Watching Days in Sauk Prairie, Wisconsin. There was a large turn-out for all the Eagle Haugeactivities and the releasing of rehabilitated eagles by Marge Gibson of the Raptor Education Group. I was just in Sauk City picking up some supplies in case it storms Friday as they are predicting. I stopped by the Prairie du Sac Dam on the Wisconsin River and there were bald eagles everywhere. The cold, below zero today, and snow has concentrated the eagles close to the open water to feed on their main food, fish.

It’s a great time to visit the area and see these magnificent birds, but stay in your car and don’t spook them. This burns their energy in this cold weather! Have fun.   Gary
