Scott won the FLW Championship last year and is busy getting ready for the Bassmaster Classic later this month. Scott is fishing this week on his home water where the family marina is located.  The up and down weather has ice fishing in a state of flux, but the colder weather has things in good shape as I write. The normal locations are good for panfish, like Warner Bay, Monona Bay, Fish Lake, Lake Waubesa, Lake Kegonsa, and now Devils Lake. Anglers still have to be careful navigating and stay on the trails. I know of few waters in Wisconsin or Minnesota where anglers are driving vechicles on the ice. It’s still ATV’s, snowmobiles, and walking. Pro Duffy Kopf was out on Lake Puckaway last week and the fishing on tip-ups was very good for walleyes and northern pike. Good size fish!

Fishermen are open water fishing on the Wisconsin River and Mississippi Rivers at Wisconsin Dells, Sauk Prairie, Genoa, and Red Wing, Minnesota. Fish very slow and use the basic jig/minnow, jig/plastic, and a plain hook and minnow. Blade baits and hair jigs also are working.

It’s sport show time with the Milwaukee Muskie Expo this week and the Madison Fishing Expo the end of the month. I hope to see you at one of the shows. Tony will be in the Bait Rigs Tackle booth at both shows.

The eagles are still in the area and its a great time to come and see these birds. Go to the Prairie Dam or the VFWEagle 1 PC Park for good viewing and please stay in your car, so the eagles don’t have to burn energy.
