Fishing Report From Guide Ron Barefield 5-11-2013

Gary , Just got home from Sturgeon Bay smallmouth fishing. The bite was a little slow dueBarefieldSmallmouth11 #0278small to the weather. We caught a lot of nice fish but not as many as usual. My largest was 6.5 pounds and we had a average of about 3 pounds. I’m on Lake Wisconsin tomorrow and will give you an update tomorrow night on that . The Madison Chain has been pretty good for panfish as they are coming shallow and pretty aggressive . Squaw Bay has been very good for Crappies and Gills and off Lake Farm on Waubesa has been good for gills with a few crappies mixed in. Willie worms have been working as has live bait. Spikes and Red worms. The bass have been a little slow on the chain . Walleyes are also slow, at least for me right now. Mendota the Cats are hot. Cut Bait in about 3 to 6 feet of water off Governors Island has been good.We will try and get out in the next couple weeks . Take Care of yourself and keep in touch.
Tight Lines
Ron
