| 3/8/2013Few more inches of snow
Spring maybe in our sights but, it is definitely still winter here. We received five more inches of snow earlier this week. Forecast for the week ahead looks nice and mild with highs in the 30’s and lows in the teens. Great for some good March ice fishing! Sounds like it will continue to keep freezing nice at night to keep the ice! We have three feet of ice right now and two to three feet of snow on the ground in the areas we fish and travel.
The best bite has been in 28-31 feet of water in the mud. Constant but not too aggressive jigging has worked well. Small gold and silver jigs or plain hooks tipped with a minnow have been working best since the storm passed though. Afternoons, especially between 2pm-5pm have been the best bite times. Anglers have been reeling in mainly walleyes and saugers but also seeing a few jumbo perch, tullibees, nice size northern pike and few crappies.

Land and lake trails continue to be groomed. The lake trail especially the one between Wheeler’s Point and Oak Island has been getting heavy traffic. Due to the heavy snow, warmer temperatures and traffic, the groomers and resorts are doing their best at keeping it as smooth as possible. Most of the other trails on the lake and land trails are in great condition and the weather has been great for enjoyable riding.
Good fishing, Good eats, Cold drinks and Good times
