Happy Holidays Everyone!

The Bite
Fishing has picked up the past few days again and anglers have been enjoying some good action.  A mix of walleyes and saugers has been found. Sauger sizes have been a mix of 12-14 inches and less than 12 inches. The morning and evening bite has been best in 21’-23’ and 25’-28’. Stop signs, macho minnows especially the gold/pink ones and chartreuse jigs have done well.  Anglers using Vexilars/Fish Finders seem to do best.  Check out some of the pics of the recent catches.

Ice
Currently in the areas we fish and travel we have 11-15 inches of ice. The recent below zero temperatures have helped, but there are still patchy areas with 8-11 inches that we are not traveling on and watching daily. If you are looking to venture out on your own, we ask that you use caution and stay on the trails.  At this time,Adrian’s Road at Four Mile Bay is only allowing ATV’s, snowmobiles or light vehicles at this point. No full sized vehicles are allowed yet
. Morris Point is only allowing ATV’s and snowmobiles. We are gaining more ice all of the time, it shouldn’t be long until it will be safe for full size vehicles. Stay safe and stay tuned for the latest information.

Lake Snowmobile Trails
The snowmobile trail from Wheeler’s Point to Oak Island has been marked. This trail has anywhere from 8”-15” of ice on it. Only snowmobiles are allowed to travel on it at this point. We are not driving bombardiers across the lake yet until conditions change
.  The trail from Wheeler’s Point to Warroad has been marked.  The trail from Wheeler’s Point to Baudette has been marked this trail has 6-9 inches of ice.  The trail from Warroad to the Northwest Angle and Oak Island is being marked today.  No trails have been groomed yet until we can gain more ice.  We have 4-6 inches of patchy snow on the lake right now. Be sure to stay on the trail and watch for the rough ice patches.

Land Snowmobile Trails
The land trails have gained a little more snow however more snow is needed for optimal riding conditions. As soon as we receive a twelve inch snow base, the club will start grooming.

The season has begun!
The guys were out the past few days and the pre-fishing was good. Saturday an excellent bite was had. They could hardly keep the jig down the hole very long.  The past few days bite hasn’t been as crazy, but still very good.  A nice mix of walleyes and saugers has been reeled in.  The best bite has been in 24’-27’ of water and the best bite has been in the mornings and evenings.  Gold jigs or gold/pink/glow in the dark stop signs have worked well tipped with a minnow.

Ice Road at the NW Angle is open!
The ice road is open from Young’s Bay to OakIsland. Come on out!  Follow the NEW reflective signs easy to see in the daytime or night time.  Currently the ice road has 12”-15” of ice. Come on out for New Year’s Dinner!
