Subject: If you know anyone who hunts elk please forward this to them
Here is the info on our rifle hunts that are available. I appreciate you spreading the word to anyone you know who would be interested in this hunt. Please look over the attachments as they give a lot of good info on why our area is the best in the world to hunt for elk (largest herd, great bull to cow ratios, not too hard to hunt, our private land gives you access to parts of the National Forest that are more difficult for the general public to get access to, no wolves yet…). ![]()
Go out the door and hunt . I have a group of 3 hunters from MI and they are looking to add 2-4 hunters to their group during the last half of Rifle 2 (Oct 25-29) and I also have the last half of rifle 3 available (Nov 8-12, checking in late on Nov 7th). Normally we charge $1950 plus tax per hunter for this hut, but because I had a cancelation, the cost for our cabin and access to the public land through our private land, is discounted to $1650 per hunter without the meal option (must have four hunters to book the place exclusively otherwise I have the option to mix a group). See below for cost if you want the meal option. I also have a cow elk hunt for rifle 4 (Nov 14-18). The cost for the Rifle 2 or 3 tag is $576 plus a habitat stamp and the over the counter either sex elk tag for rifle 3 went on sale this past Tuesday, but they are unlimited so you can pick up a tag at any time up to the start of the season. The cost for the cow elk tag is $361.
For archery season I have opening week (Aug 24-30th ) and the last week Sept 18-24th. The last week you would be joining a group of three other hunters and would have to take the meal option and the cost would be $2,000 with meals. For opening week you could have the place to yourself if you have a group of at least 4 hunters and the cost would be $1650 per hunter no meals. We are partially in GMU 231 with access to the national forest in GMU 231 and those archery licenses are either sex elk unlimited over the counter tags at $576.
You’ll be staying in a high end, 4 bedroom/3.5 bath 3500+ SF secluded cabin surrounded on 3 sides by the Routt and White River National Forests where the largest elk herd in the world is located at over 42,000 animals. Our area is horse or foot only and most of our hunters go on foot as the area isn’t overly strenuous (a 5.5 on a scale of 1-10). However, I am happy to provide the information on the horse rentals as they are just 1.5 miles up the road from us.
The cabin has 3 levels with decks/balconies that overlook the river and the game trails on the ridge above the river. One bedroom has 2 queen beds, the other three have one queen and a twin sized bunk bed (sleeps 2) and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. Radiant in floor heat is what heats the place and for ambiance there is also fireplace and a wood burning stove. Upon entering there is an oversized mudroom with dog wash area for wet, muddy boots etc.
Meals can be added for a group of four or more at a cost of $350 per person and includes all food and beverages except alcohol and includes all food prep, snacks etc. Hot breakfast, sack lunch and hot dinner customized for your party by a professional chef out of Vail, CO.
Lastly, there is an outfitter down the road that will pack out your animal for $200 if he can get to it on a horse.
Please call me if you should have any other questions.
Thanks,
Lisa
