High Water! Be Aware!

Due to heavy rainfall in northern WI, the Lower WI River flow has increased dramatically.

It has been only 3000 to 4000 CFS (Cubic Feet per Second) at the Prairie du Sac dam lately. This morning it was already at 11,000 plus and this evening it is over 16,000 CFS.

This is not necessarily dangerously high water, but you should be aware and take extra precaution, especially if you’re going sandbar camping.

There should still be plenty of sandbars to recreate on but do not do anything that you THINK is safe. You must KNOW it is safe. Some kids had great fun this evening jumping off a sandbar into an area that adults KNOW was safe because they checked it out thoroughly first.
