The 2012 Spring TOKS Contest was a huge success, producing record numbers of common and mirror carp from anglers all over the world. One record in particular that has the TOKS Staff buzzing is the impressive total weight of 4,684.06 lbs / 2,129.26 kgs generated by the TOKS entrants. Tournament Director Ken Keene says, “it’s very exciting to see the growing numbers produced by the TOKS entrants and we’re very proud to see much of the activity is in fact coming out of the United States.” There was also an impressive number of fish landed by anglers living in France, Bulgaria, Croatia, England, Canada, Czech Republic and South Africa.
The anglers producing enough big fish to reign supreme within their region were Gary Hoden of South Africa, Mario Franjkovic of Croatia, Lloyd Coxon of England and Robert Duprey of the United States. But, the angler producing an abundance of large fish and crowned with the World Big Four Title was Gary Hoden of South Africa. Tournament Director Ken Keene says, “In all honesty, to see the fish caught by Gary was a pleasant surprise and completely unexpected. Gary submitted some of the biggest fish ever witnessed in the history of the TOKS Big Four International; three of which were mirrors and one common weighing a combined total of 219.10 lbs / 99.83 kgs.”
