Day 2 of the Sportsman’s Lodge Sturgeon Tournament action was more aggressive in day two and lots of fun was had.  First Place and the winner of $1500 in cash is Darrik Ferestad from Park Rapids, MN. Darrik’s sturgeon measured 64 inches in length and had a 26 inch girth. The approximate weight was 66 lbs according to the MN DNR Sturgeon chart. The length and girth of the sturgeon is the two things that determine the winners of the tournament. Way to go Darrik!
 
2nd place day winner of day 2 is David Clement from East Grand Forks, MN taking home $650 cash. David’s sturgeon measured 62 inches in length, 24 inches in girth and weighed approximately 60lbs.
 
3rd place winner of day 2 is Dan Arcand from Little Canada, MN taking home a custom built fishing rod. Dan’s sturgeon measured in at 61.5 inches in length, 24 inches in girth and weighed approximately 57 lbs.

In other divisions the winners over the two days were:
Longest Sturgeon Caught by someone under 18 years old  – Hunter Deziel from Grand Forks, MN. Hunter caught a 52 inch monster! WOW Way to go Hunter!

Sucker – Tommy Riggs from Shevlin, MN reels in a 24 incher
Bullhead  – Chris Ingeman from Zimmerman, MN reels in a 13 incher
Eelpout – Hunter Deziel again with a 12 incher
Powder Puff Award goes to boat #32, Lindsey Pappas from Bram, MN
Best Boat Award goes to boat #28, Jason Albertson Group from Horace, ND

The night rounded out with an awards banquet,  live entertainment and a whole lot of fishing stories. Thanks to everyone who participated.  We look forward to next year, for the 7th Annual, May 3 & 4, 2013. Sturgeon fishing season continues through May 15 and some of the best fishing is just right out in front of the lodge. Give us a call to come and reel in your dinosaur!
