Outdoor Horizons Radio with Guest Hall of Fame Legendary Guide, Russ Smith 4-28-2012

This week on Outdoor Horizons Radio, we have three guests doing the show with me.Tony and Gary Tony is in Cave Run, Kentucky fishing the Professional Muskie Tournament Trail with partner, Mike Pecosky. I have local angler and professional, Duffy Kopf, in the studio with me and we’ll be talking with local guide and professional, Ron Barefield, who gives some tips for fishing the Madison Chain of Lakes come opening day. Ron has been guiding the Chain for going on 20 years and he knows the area waters. Then in today’s second set, Legendary Hall of Fame Guide, Russ Smith, will be on the show talking about fishing northern Wisconsin on opening weekend.Muskies Smity Russ has been guiding and making muskie baits for well over 30 years and his expertise gives everyone something new to learn. We have some great interviews this week!

I also discuss the on-going turkey season and how many hens are already on their nests with some lonesome toms looking for a hen to breed. Mark Clements reports from the Mississippi River that his customers are catching large numbers of northern pike, walleyes, and saugers. What a great place to spend a day! The cooler weather has slowed down fishing and most species are difficult to catch with the up and down weather. This coming week looks better with some warmer temperatures coming our way. Crappies and bluegills should start biting soon. Be patient because good fishing is just around the cormer!

The inland open season opens May 5 and it should be a good opener. Listen to what to look for in today’s interviews and you’ll get some good tips for Wisconsin waters. The Yahara Fishing Club Kid’s Fishing Day is coming up in a few weeks and NPAA members Jim Kloth and myself will be in Montello at their Fish Fest and taking children fishing this coming weekend!

Miller’s Market in Verona and Mt. Horeb sponsor our  third segment and Carl Miller just got back from Lake Erie where he had some great walleye fishing. Duffy Kopf and Nebulas is supporting our next give-a-way with a Nebulas Floatation device. These are for your ATV and snowmobile and make  your travel on local lakes  safe. The local sheriffs are using these devices on their machines. Soon, we’ll be giving one away with a value of $500.00, with a drawing for this great product. Keep checking for the drawing!
