Eagle Roost Count Results From Ferry Bluff Eagle Council 3-6-2012

Roost Count Results Sunday, 4 March. 2012

Hello all of you fine counters:   With our mini-winter last week, we more than doubled our eagle count from two weeks ago!    Utilizing 30 volunteer hours, 38 eagles were counted with most of the birds being found down river at the Lone Rock Roost .  It is likely that spring migration is beginning even while local breeders are incubating eggs!    In March, eagles often begin concentrating on Lake Wisconsin and reflect either the wintering birds in Sauk Prairie or migrants moving through our area.  It is a time for transition of eagles and people alike.   Thank you all very much for a great winter count again this year!  This week’s results follow below; total results for the entire year have been posted online .   Your efforts are used frequently in various decisions about managing our eagle resource.  If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me .   It is time to warm up now…     Jeb Barzen Count Results Adult Immature  Unknown Total           Sugarloaf – – 1 1 Ferry Bluff 2 1 – 3 Fox – 1 1 2 Lone Rock 13 8 4 25 NC Ederer/Been 1 – – 1 Leland 3 3 – 6           Totals: 19 13 6 38 Volunteer Hours:  30         www.ferrybluffeaglecouncil.org
