Loon Cam On the Air 4-27-2011

Loon Cam On the Air
(Minneapolis, MN) Did you know the average life span of a loon is 30 years?
Loons grow 2-3 feet in length. And how about this one… Loons can dive more than 200 feet below the surface of the water.Loon ! SmallMinnesota’s favorite state bird will be front and center this spring as Ron Schara Productions again launches its famous “Loon Cam”. The Loon Cam was launched the spring of 2008, and was an immediate success. The cam had a half a million views for a thirty day period. The response was overwhelming! It’s one of the most watched wildlife webcams in the country.

“One of the benefits of being a Loon peek-a-boo is watching loon behavior, not seen before,” say’s Ron Schara, host of Minnesota Bound, “such as the competition between two newly hatched loon babies“.

The Loon Cam will run from April through June, and Larry Backlund, Minnesota Bound’s premier Loon expert, is again taking part by letting our camera be on his nesting platform on the water. Backlund, a well-known loon fanatic, will also be doing daily updates and blogging on the loon nest. The camera will be rolling out LIVE footage 24/7.

Mother Nature likes to keep all viewers guessing, so be sure to tune in to see when the eggs arrive, and of course the most entertaining footage, when the baby loons hatch and the new family takes to the water.
