Lakefront property owners and others interested in managing aquatic plants and weeds in Lake Winnebago are invited to attend one of two identical informational meetings scheduled Monday, March 28, and Thursday, March 31, in North Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac.![]()
Many lakefront property owners in the Fond du Lac area expressed anger and concern last summer because of the extent of lake weed problems.
The first meeting is scheduled 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the North Fond du Lac Community Center, 280 Garfield St. The second meeting is scheduled 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room of UW-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive. The second meeting will be video recorded for later viewing online.
Speakers will be Jay Schiefelbein and Chuck Fitzgibbon, DNR water resource management specialists; and Chad Cook, UW-Extension natural resources educator.
Those who attend will learn more about aquatic plants and how beach associations and residents can work with the DNR to manage plants if they become a nuisance, according to a news release from Aquatic Biologists Inc. of Fond du Lac.
The meetings are being sponsored by Fond du Lac County Executive Allen Buechel, state Sen. Randy Hopper and state Rep. Dick Spanbauer in conjunction with UW-Extension and the state Department of Natural Resources.
