Oppose Special Session Senate Bill 11: More Political Appointees, Still No New Jobs
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose Special Session Senate Bill 11, which is scheduled to be before the state Senate on Tuesday.
The citizens of Wisconsin have the right to expect that the spokespeople who provide information to the public and the state’s lawyers who administer justice are doing their jobs in the interest of the citizens of the state. Government employees should not have to be worried that they could be fired at any time for providing truthful information or representation that is displeasing to the Governor. Special Session Senate Bill 11would make the legislative liaisons, media spokespeople, and lawyers for state agencies political appointees, which undermines their ability to represent the public without fear of retribution. This is an unprecedented power grab that provides special favors to the Governor’s supporters and does nothing to create jobs or economic benefit to the state of Wisconsin.
Support Public Commission Rule CR 10-057: Protecting Wisconsin’s Clean Energy Jobs
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to support Public Service Commission (PSC) Rule CR 10-057, which is before the Joint Committee on the Review of Administrative Rules on Wednesday.
In order to compete in the clean energy economy, Wisconsin must promote wind development. PSC Rule CR 10-057 represents a compromise agreed to be by all affected parties on how best to site new wind developments in Wisconsin. Suspension of this rule would subject wind developers to inconsistent and onerous local regulations. As a result, wind manufacturing and siting jobs that should be in Wisconsin will flee to Iowa and Illinois.
