Oppose Special Session AB 10: Special Favors for A Single Developer
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose Special Session AB 10, which is before the full Assembly on Wednesday.

Wisconsin’s wetlands are critical for flood prevention and water purification. Wisconsin’s wetlands also contribute to our tourism economy and are great places to hunt. Special Session AB 10 would put all of Brown County wetlands at risk by changing statewide protections for the sake of one developer.

Oppose Special Session AB 8: The Hoops and Red Tape Bill

Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose Special Session AB 8, which is before the full Assembly on Wednesday.

Emergency rules are designed to allow Wisconsin to move quickly to protect public health and our natural resources from emerging threats. As just one example, Wisconsin used emergency rules in 2007 to prevent the spread of an invasive pathogen, VHS, from killing fish in our lakes. Special Session AB 8 creates a new layer of bureaucracy and bypasses the basic democratic process that facilitates state agency rulemaking by placing nearly all authority in the hands of the Governor. In addition, Special Session AB 8 would remove threats to public health and the environment from being considered while preparing impact analysis reports.

Oppose Special Session SB 10: Special Favors for A Single Developer
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose Special Session SB 10, which is before the Senate Natural Resources and Environment Commitee on Tuesday.

Wisconsin’s wetlands are critical for flood prevention and water purification. Wisconsin’s wetlands also contribute to our tourism economy and are great places to hunt. Special Session SB 10 would put all of Brown County wetlands at risk by changing statewide protections for the sake of one developer.

Oppose Special Session AB9/ SB 9: Killing Wisconsin’s Clean Energy Jobs
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose Special Session SB 9, which has been introduced to the Assembly Energy and Utilities Committee and Special Session SB 9, which has been introduced to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Utilities, Commerce, and Government Operations.

In order to compete in the clean energy economy, Wisconsin must promote wind development. Special Session SB 9 would make wind systems meet an impossibly high standard in Wisconsin that does not exist for other energy sources. As a result, wind manufacturing and siting jobs that should be in Wisconsin will be sent to Iowa and Illinois.

Support LRB 0472: Transparency for Out-of-State Donors
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 0472, which is currently circulating for co-sponsorship.

A healthy democracy and the protection of our natural resources depend upon open and transparent elections. Voters have a right to know who is spending money to influence Wisconsin’s elections, no matter where those donors reside. LRB 0472/1 would require all organizations that spend money to influence Wisconsin’s elections to meet the same reporting requirements as Wisconsin-based organizations currently do.

Conservation NOW announces the pro-conservation positions on issues before the Senate, Assembly and/or Governor in the week ahead to state legislators. Others wishing to follow activities in the state legislature also receive Conservation NOW, including legislative staff, conservation voters, and media. All of these issues are tracked on the Conservation Vote Tracker. Issues in the Conservation NOW may appear in the Conservation Scorecard, to be released in the summer of 2012.
