Wisconsin River Update 9-28-2010

The Wisconsin River continues to roar and flood areas around Portage and Highway 33. The river’s flow this morning at Castle Rock was 22,800 cubic feet per second (cfs), 54,740 c.f.s. at Kilbourne (Wisconsin Dells), and a whopping 62,000 c.f.s. at Prairie du Sac (Sauk City). 
In my 20+ years of living on the Wisconsin River this is the highest flow that I have ever witnessed! It’s a good thing that I’m on higher land.
I’ll take a video later so that you can see what the river looks like TODAY. If you ever want to know what the flow is on the Wisconsin River, you may call Alliant Energy at 1-800-242-1077 for daily updates. The flow over 60,000 c.f.s. is the first time I’ve seen the river over 60,000 c.f.s.
The river should be receding since the flow at Castle Rock is about 22,000 c.f.s. which means the water will be going down within a day or two. But, the river is still extremely high with strong currents! Scroll back a few pages and see the You Tube videos that I’ve posted here and on You Tube.
