NPAA Member Release: 8th Annual Fish-O-Rama at Robins Lake in Cedar Rapids 8-21-2010

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids held the 8th Annual Fish-O-Rama at Robins Lake in Cedar Rapids on August 7th and 8th. This year’s Fish-O-Rama saw 1,400 anglers with over 150 volunteers and staff participate in one of Iowa’s largest annual fishing events. Anglers won over 300 prizes including a grand prize package of a StarCraft boat & Yamaha motor won by Rick Saylor of Cedar Rapids. According to Event Chairperson Dave Nichols (NPAA 153), “The Saturday morning bite was crazy good and we gave away more big prizes than ever before!” 
Over 40 business and corporate sponsors supported this year’s event including: Cedar Rapids Toyota; Shallow Water Marine; Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Pure Fishing and NPAA member Gary Speicher (NPAA128 ). All monies raised from Fish-O-Rama go directly to the local Boys & Girls Clubs’ operational budget to continue programs for youth throughout the Cedar Rapids metro area.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cedar Rapids provide programs and support to over 300 area youth at 4 sites in the Metro area. The programs are intended to provide youth with opportunities in character and leadership development; education and career development; health and lifestyle skills; sport and recreation in a safe environment.
