Hello everyone,Just to let you know, the Wisconsin Wildlife Policy Team has approved Laine Stowell’s plan to move elk within the current Wisconsin Elk Range. There are a number of reasons they want to do that, including getting the elk to expand their range, and to help by moving elk to areas where there are less predators, or predators that haven’t learned to eat elk. Please see Laine’s comments below. We hope to do some work on the new acclimation pen during Bugle Days!![]()
I am sure you will also be happy to hear about the continued great success of the 2010 calves! 87% survival compared to 40% last year!

Subject: The Assisted Dispersal Proposal
Greetings Folks,
Good news to share! First, the Wildlife Policy Team has approved the Assisted Dispersal Proposal. We’re working out the details now to see if we can get everything worked out so we can work on putting up the fence for the acclimation pen during Bugle Days weekend.
Best Regards,
Laine Stowell is the elk biologist for the Wisconsin elk. Laine has been doing a great job since the beginning! Gary
