This Saturday, June 5, 2010 there are two events that can get the whole family out and enjoying the outdoors while getting instruction in fishing. The Yahara Fishing Club in Madison, Wisconsin is having their Annual Kid’s Fishing Day at the Warner Park lagoons on the cities northside.
The first 350 children under 14 years will reccive a free rod and reel. Those who have their own rods will receive a tackle box filled with goodies. There will be club members to help and a lunch will be serves. Wal-Mart on the Madison westside was a major donor and Fin-Tech Tackle made a nice donation of product, the Knuckle-Ball jig for all participants and should be thanked. The event will run from 9 am to 1 pm. NPAA member and club member, Jim Kloth heads the effort.
Also, Saturday, June 5th, the return of Lake Delton will be celebrated with the first Children’s Fishing Jamboree. The youth event will start at Kaminski Park in Lake Delton. The children will work and help DNR personnel by helping them photograph, measure, weigh, and record their catch on the restored waters of Lake Delton. It was just 2 years ago that the tourist lake was devasated by flooding and the loss of the lakes water.![]()
Fishing will be at Lake Delton, Mirror Lake, and the Wisconsin River. There will be prizes, give-aways, food, and fun for kids and their families. The event will run from 9 am to 1 pm with a “shore lunch” and a celebration with the Lake Delton Fisheries Restoration Project founders, Ben Hobbins and Dan Small. Gander Mountain stores have been a major sponsor.
