Clements Fishing Barge Fishing Report 5-24-2010

I guess I never get sick of catching white bass, they are a lot of fun. Only time it might be annoying is when I am trying to catch walleye or sauger. This weekend was so so, but on Saturday it was funny to see two walleye around ten pounds caught as it was the same day as the Genoa Lions Walleye Tournament. Both fish would have won it if they had been in the tournament.
Lots of white bass continue to come in. Saturday was a little slow, then after most people left on Sunday, the white bass come in so thick, you could catch 50 each hour in the afternoon. Put on two jigs at a time and caught two fish at a time. My son Conner came out and he had some fun with them as well. It is always great to see that many fish in this body of water. I really need to get a video camera out here and tape this action some time. Still getting a lot of smallmouth and largemouth bass as well. They are feeding heavy right along with the white bass right now. Some very nice size bluegills came in today too. Big as in the 9 to 10 inch size. This was nice to see, since all week long we had been getting only small ones. Most were caught on worms. White bass were hitting just about anything that moved in the water. Best were white jigs or some blade baits, as long as you could keep the grass off of them. Some northern pike around too, just need to bring some suckers with you. This heat this afternoon though…wow…not use to this yet.
