Clements Fishing Barge Report Genoa, Wisconsin on the Mississippi River 4-27-2010
gengberg April 27th, 2010
Bluegills, bluegills and more bluegills…doesn’t really matter where you fish on the barge right now, but the river is full of bluegills.
They are up and down the river from what I have heard and some very nice size ones I might add. Still some perch around as well. Almost all have come in on worms, but you would be surprised at how many were caught on Jigs!!! Even caught a few on a floating jig… Some walleye and sauger still coming in as well, not a lot, but many, many smaller fish. Of course the sheephead have been running wild as well, not to worry about not catching any fish, just drop a lure in and your sure to catch something. Whitebass are coming in now as well as the water begins to finally warm up and head up towards 60 degrees…a lot of nice fishing going on. Great weather this week and the fishing should continue to get even better. Keeping Cameron busy cleaning bluegills. We have had two messes for supper now…nothing better than fresh fish for supper.
Don’t forget that this Saturday is Pool 9 clean up. Look forward to any help we can get. Could use a few hands to just pick up all around the boat landing in Genoa and the shore line. The rest of us will hit the islands on the Minnesota side and pick up back in the woods. If you have any questions contact us at the Bait Shop.
