Clements Fishing Barge on the Mississippi River at Genoa, Wi. 4-20-2010

Well, it was really difficult on Thursday and Friday to even fish. The wind really wanted to just blow you right over. The last couple of days it has calmed down and its been beautiful fishing weather, cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Water temperature is still in the 50’s and we continue to get walleye, sauger, bluegills, perch and a few northern.
Not a lot of keeper walleye and sauger, plenty of action with small ones. Tough to really get a limit, but many customers went home with fish. Big, big bluegills are coming in right now and many perch as well. A few northern have been caught more by accident than anyone really fishing for them. You should see the size of some of the smallmouth bass coming in right now. Several in the 4 pound range have been landed. They are hitting all over right now. A few guys went up on the wall and got some monster white bass. They started to bite a while ago, quit with the cold weather and now are starting in again. Most walleye and sauger were coming in on hair jigs, the pan fish all on worms and a few perch on minnows or worms. Water continues to slowly drop and the wingdams haven’t come out yet, but be-careful on the closing dam by the Dairyland Power…it will reach up and get you right now.
