This week on Outdoor Horizons Radio, Wally Banfi and Gary Engberg talk about the river fishing in Wisconsin that is now happening and about to get “hot” on the Wisconsin, Mississippi, Fox, and Wolf Rivers.
They have good fishing reports for you from all around the state and give you tips on how to catch both walleyes and saugers during the early spring.
This week’s interview and guest is Hall of Fame walleye professional, Keith Kavajecz, who talks about using Berkley Gulp and plastics to catch spring walleyes. You couldn’t ask for a better guest and topic at this time of year. Keith knows everything there is to know about walleyes and fishing in general. Keith can also be seen on The Next Bite television show which airs throughout the Midwest with Gary Parsons, Case Parsons, and Pete Maina. Wally interviewed Keith a couple of months ago at the NPAA Conference in Minneapolis. This is just another of the great guests that we interview for Outdoor Horizons Radio in our attempt to give you the best individuals in their area of expertise. Enjoy Keith and try the tips he gives you when you’re fishing on your own.
Tony is out of town fishing the Illinois River at the MWC walleye event at Spring Valley, Illinois. Tony reports the river is finally dropping and him and his partner, Mike Pecosky, have been doing well while pre-fishing. The best technique has been pulling a “secret colored” crankbait on leadcore line and jigging with a special pink Odd-Ball jig and plastic.
This Saturday the DNR is putting all the left-over turkey tags on sale at 10:00 am. It’s almost time to start spring turkey hunting and hunters should be out scouting their hunting locations. Look for tracks and scat near their feeding locations. Try a pair of Vortex Optics for your scouting and hunting. Wilderness Fish and Game has everything the spring angler and turkey hunter needs with a tremendous gun selection, calls, decoys, and clothing plus a great fishing section with everything you need for the Wisconsin or Mississippi Rivers.
