Madison, Wis - Farmers will join with small business owners this Wednesday, March 17th, at Homegrown Energy Day in Madison to highlight the economic and environmental importance of supporting homegrown energy solutions like biofuels, manure digesters, wind and solar power in the Clean Energy Jobs Act.

The event will begin at 11:00am in the Senate Parlor of the State Capitol where farmers, business owners, and renewable energy experts will brief legislators and journalists on the economic importance of passing strong policies to foster the growth of clean, renewable energy.

Following the briefing, journalists and policy-makers can join the public in touring renewable energy displays at the band shell located on the top of State Street near the State Capitol. Displays will include a model wind turbine, a model manure digester, solar panels, switchgrass, and more. Experts will remain on-hand to demonstrate how these technologies produce energy from renewable sources as well as how we can boost our economy and clean our environment by investing in renewable energy production.

What: Farmers and small business owners explaining the importance of passing strong policies fostering rural economic development in the Clean Energy Jobs Act, followed by an opportunity to talk with experts and see innovative renewable energy solutions up close. Speakers will include:

· Mike Curci, Plant Superintendent, Indeck Energy

· John Vrieze, Owner, Emerald and Baldwin Dairies

· Dan Nemke, General Manager, Clear Horizons

· Mark Doudlah, Farmer and President of Agrecol Corporation

· Jamie Derr, Farmer and Owner of Derr Solarmass LLC.

· Keith Reopelle, Senior Policy Director, Clean Wisconsin

When: Wednesday, March 17th

Press conference begins at 11:00am; display area will remain open until 2:00pm.

Where: Press Conference will take place in the Senate Parlor of the Wisconsin State Capitol. Display area will be at 30 State Street, the band shell at the top of State Street adjacent to the Veteran’s Museum.
