Big Six

LAKE MILLE LACS
On the east side, the best perch action is on the Two Mile Flat out of Hunter’s Point in 22 feet.Jumbo Perch small On the west side, big perch are scattered on the mud flats and shallower rocks, but it is difficult to put together numbers. Tullibee action remains consistent in deep water off the flats such as Curley’s, Seguchie’s, Seven Mile, Eight Mile, and Nine Mile.

LAKE OF THE WOODS
On the south shore, walleyes and sauger are being caught in 32 to 35 feet. With the warm weather of late, look for them to start moving back towards the shorelines. Walleye Huddy smallThe big northern pike also have been more active this week on the south shore. At the Northwest Angle, walleyes and jumbo perch continue to be caught in 23 to 28 feet near the islands.

LEECH LAKE
Perch action has cranked up in 12 to 16 feet in the Big Hardwoods area. Perch Dave Genz SmallThe cabbage in the Narrows also is producing perch in 11 to 14 feet, as is Portage Bay in 21 feet. Crappie activity is going strong on the south end of Shingobee Bay in 26 to 35 feet.

LAKE MINNETONKA AREA
Crappies and sunfish are over 20 to 30 feet on Lake Independence and Lake Sarah. On Lake Minnetonka, sunfish action has improved in Black Lake and on the 12-foot weed edge on the north side of Crystal Bay.

RAINY LAKE
The Dryweed Island area and islands east of the Brule is producing walleyes in 34 to 40 feet. There’s also an evening walleye bite at the American Narrows in 32 to 38 feet. Ciscoes are producing pike in the Rainy Lake City area in less than 20 feet during the day.

LAKE WINNIBIGOSHISH
The best perch reports continue to come from deep water, around 40 feet north and west of Moses Bar and in 30 to 35 feet on Horseshoe Bar and the Snaghole. Look for these fish to start moving into the 10- to 12-foot range between Sugar Point and Raven’s Point on the west side.

NORTHEAST METRO
You’ll find crappies in 12 to 15 feet of water at White Bear Lake and in 20 to 30 feet of water at Big Carnelian Lake. Lake Jane is kicking out sunfish and crappies in 15 to 20 feet of water.Panfish Ice SmallLook for sunfish on Lake Peltier in eight to 10 feet and on Centerville Lake in 15 feet. Jigging Rapalas are producing white bass on the St. Croix River in 30 to 35 feet.

WEST METRO
Pelican Lake continues to provide steady panfish action in eight to 11 feet. On the south end of Lake Waconia, crappies are hitting during the evening hours in 12 to 14 feet. Look to the north end of Prior Lake for sunfish in 12 feet. There’s an evening crappie bite at Whaletail Lake in 12 to 14 feet.

ALEXANDRIA AREA
Generally, sunfish are being found during the day and crappies are most active during the evening hours. The best reports are coming from eight to 15 feet on lakes such as Victoria, Darling, Le Homme Dieu, and the north end of Geneva.

ANNANDALE AREA
Anglers have started to find a mixed bag of sunfish and crappies in 12 feet or less on most lakes. The most consistent reports are coming off lakes Sylvia, Clearwater, Sugar, John, Constance, and Marie during the morning and evening hours.

BATTLE LAKE
Sunfish are being caught in 15 to 20 feet at Lake Lida, Star Lake, East Lost Lake, and South Turtle Lake. Look for crappies over 18 to 22 feet at Walker Lake, South Turtle, and East Lost. Tullibees remain active over deep water at Star, Pickeral Lake, Mollie Stark Lake, and Long Lake.

BEMIDJI AREA
Perch continue to be found between 20 and 30 feet on Midge Lake, Lake Bemidji, Cass Lake, and Pike Bay Lake. Look for bluegills in 10 feet or less and crappies in 15 to 20 feet at Grace Lake, Turtle River Lake, Portage Lake, and Sucker Lake.

BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA
Eurolarvae or grass shrimp are producing crappies in eight to 16 feet of water at Gull Lake, Cullen Lake, Lake Margaret, and Round Lake. Sunfish action has improved in eight to 12 feet with ‘larvae and small glow jigs at Nisswa Lake, North Long Lake, and Round.

DETROIT LAKES
Sunfish and crappies are scattered between six and 18 feet at lakes Melissa, Little Detroit, Deadshot Bay, Middle Cormorant, Sour, Floyd, and Little Pelican. Tullibees remain active and suspended over deep water at Pelican Lake, Lake Sallie, Big Cormorant Lake, and Melissa.

DULUTH AREA
Look for bluegills on Moose Lake in eight feet and a few crappies on Fish Lake and Comstock Lake in 12 feet. Kamloops have started to show up at the mouth of the French River on Lake Superior. Crawlers are working best, but waxworms and spawn sacs also have turned fish.

EMILY AREA
Crappies are hitting on the north end of Lake Inguadona in 15 to 20 feet. Woods Bay on Roosevelt Lake is producing sunfish in 20 feet and on Lake Washburn, you’ll find crappies and sunfish in 10 to 15 feet. Look to Lawrence Lake for crappies over 30 feet during the evening. On Lake Esquagamah, sunfish and crappies are biting in 18 to 22 feet.

GRAND RAPIDS AREA
Bass Lake is kicking out sunfish and crappies in eight to 15 feet and on Big Cutfoot Sioux Lake you’ll find crappies in 30 feet and bluegills at 20 feet. Lake Wabana is producing panfish in 20 feet and you’ll hit crappies over 30 feet at Big Ball Club Lake. Sylvan Bay on the Mississippi River is providing steady panfish action in 20 to 30 feet. Look to Bowstring Lake for perch in 18 to 22 feet and crappies in 22 to 26 feet. Lake trout continue to be found suspended over deep water at Pit Lake and Bluewater Lake.

RED WING AREA
Sauger action has picked up below the dam on the Mississippi River in 16 to 18 feet of water. Bright-colored hair jigs tipped with fathead minnows, blade baits, or ringworms with a white tail are working best. This area also has produced an occasional big walleye, catfish, and sturgeon, as well as a few paddlefish.

ST. CLOUD/EDEN VALLEY AREA
Crappies and tullibees are being found suspended in the deep holes of Lake Koronis. Rice Lake is giving up crappies over 25 feet and Cedar Island Lake started producing sunfish in 10 to 14 feet. Look to Pearl Lake for sunfish and crappies in 10 to 12 feet and to Browns Lake for panfish in eight to 18 feet.

SAUK CENTRE AREA
Crappies continue to hit at a good pace on the north end of Sauk Lake in 42 feet of water. The north end of Lake Osakis is giving up sunfish in 20 feet and you’ll find crappies in 40 to 42 feet in front of Holiday Resort on Osakis. The Glenwood end of Lake Minnewaska continues to produce sunfish in 10 to 14 feet.
