The Final Push for the Independent DNR Secretary Starts Today (With Your Phone Call) 2-3-2010

The Final Push for the Independent DNR Secretary Starts TODAY (With Your Phone Call)!WLCV Logo SmallHundreds of conservationists made a huge impact on Conservation Lobby Day. They asked every legislator to vote to override the Governor’s short-sighted veto of AB 138, the bill to restore the Independent DNR Secretary. Now that we’ve tallied their answers, we are happy to report that the results are encouraging and motivating We are THIS close!

Problem:

We were surprised to hear how many legislators who originally voted against the bill are now considering voting for the override. However, there were also legislators that originally supported the bill who are now nervous about voting to override the Governor. We still have work to do, but we are getting closer and closer to the number needed to override the veto. This is conservation history in the making and we need your help!

Solution:

The first order of business is making sure that the override is scheduled for a vote. Even if you have called your legislator before, they need to hear from you again.  And, right away. There isn’t much time left in the session, so today marks the kickoff of the last MAJOR push to get this issue squared away - once and for all!

Action Needed:

Call your state Assembly Representative today. Tell them why you care about this issue. Then, be sure to ask, “Will you ask Speaker Sheridan to schedule a vote to override the Governor’s veto of AB 138?”

By making your call today, you will be joining hundreds (perhaps thousands?) of other Wisconsinites doing the same. This is our time to make a lasting impact for Wisconsin’s future.
