50 inch 40 lb Sturgeon caught on
green jig with minnow
in 25′ of water
12-28-09 Released
The action continues…
Kenny Weber pulled a 50 inch, 40lb Sturgeon thru the hole a couple of days ago! WOW! That is quite a fish to pull thru an ice hole! Kenny was fishing for walleyes, but snagged this hungry fella, quite the fight, it was safely released soon after. We seem to get a few of these caught thru the year, another 45 incher was caught 12-11-09 too, interesting. Usually these guys are found in late April and Early May. Walleyes and saugers…

Bill Winter, Pipestone, MN
12-17-09 25 inch Walleye
Caught on a gold jig in
with a minnow in 18′ of water
Lots of saugers are being reported especially in the smaller class, however plenty of nice walleyes and saugers are also being caught to round out a nice limit in a 2-3 day trip. The fish are really schooled up it seems as if you get one bite, it is just the beginning of a steady stream for awhile, then a gap just enough time to enjoy a beverage and snack and tell a fish story and then keep jigging they are back for more. Hot tackle seems to be gold and orange jigs and a 2 inch yellow spoon tipped with a minnow. Jigging has been helping along with setting the hook at the right time.
Ice Conditions
18″-20″ on the Lake on the marked trails and 16″ on the Four Mile Bay. The lake is mostly covered with 12-15″ of new snow that fell last week. The conditions are good. Some slush is reported when you get off the trails and marked roads.

27.5 inch Walleye![]()
12-28-09 gold jig and minnow
22′ of water
Released
A consistent bite has been reported since the weather has stabilized with the afternoons favoring the mornings in recent days. The water clarity is really impressive this year. Along with a many nice eater size walleyes a few larger fish have been caught and released too. A 27.5 inch walleye was caught by Brandon Noble and 27.5 walleye was also caught by Ryan Winters this week along with a 39.5 inch northern pike too! The northern pike really started to hit in a few houses when the weather turned clear and cold. The best fishing along with the two large walleyes were caught using a gold jig tipped with a minnow in about 22′-25′ of water.
Ice Conditions
The ice depth is currently 12-16″. Slush has been reported when you get off the trail due to the recent snow we got last week.
