I’d like to thank all of you readers for a great 2009. There will be some changes for the better on this website in the new year. Pheasant Me and Katie SmallIf you have any things that you’d like to see let me know. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Great 2010.   Gary

Ice fishermen, please be careful with this rain and warm weather we’re having this Christmas eve. It’s 35 degrees and raining on the Wisconsin river home as I write. most area waters had 4 to 6 inches of ice this week, but be careful till it gets colder later this coming weekend. Safety is of utmost importance this time of the year with early ice.Muskie gary wingra 11-09 small

The bluegills and a few crappies are biting at Brittingham Park and Monona Bay. There’s been hundreds of people fishing the past week or more and catching fish. I can’t believe how big the bio-mass of fish must be to have so many people catching fish. Try to let those small fish go and try to keep the ones bigger than 7 1/2 or 8 inches. Purple and black are the best colors to use.

Lake Wisconsin has had some nice northern pike caught over 20 pounds in Okee and Sunset Bay. Tip-uups and smaller suckers or shiners as bait. Crystal Lake isn’t quite ready to drive on yet, but the ‘gills should be good there this year. Gallus Slough, north of Lake Wisconsin, is the best bet for bigger bluegills.

Pancake Bob is fishing Lake Waubesa with 6 inches of ice and doing good with some decent bluegills. Plus, some good pike are also being caught on tip-ips.It will be a while before Lake Mendota is frozen over probably the 1st of the year. This is one of those days when you can catch walleyes and saugers in open water below the Prairie du Sac and Wisconsin Dells Dam. The fish are there…. jigs and minnow worked very slooooow.

Pheasant season closes the end of this month. It’s hard walking, but there’s till birds on public hunting grounds. The Holiday Deer Hunt is opening. Find where the deer are feeding and bedding and you’ll be set. Be safe and careful.Santa Reelbait small
