First Ice Walleyes in Eagle River, Wisconsin 12-14-09
gengberg December 15th, 2009
Good friend, David Coon, from Stone Lake, Wisconsin sent me these photos of his friends, Lacy and Paul Bloedorn, brother Wally Bloedorn, and friend Trevor Colby with some nice walleyes caught on a backwoods lake near Eagle River, Wisconsin.
The walleyes were all caught on tip-ups with shiners and smaller suckers as bait. The fish got active just before dark and continued to bite after dark with the group catching 8 walleyes with the largest being 28 inches and another fish was 26 inches. The group had to take a snowmobile ride for a mile to get to the lake. There was only 2 inches of ice and some of the lake was still open which is not quite enough for me. Be safe and careful.![]()
