The first annual Inaugural Corporate Ice Fishing Media Weekend Event was held this past weekend of December 12th, 2009 hosted by Stu McKay of Cats on the Red, in Lockport. Manitoba. With many leaders in the ice fishing industry attending, Stu strived to make this a great success and prove the big eyes are in Canada. Team ReelBait, consisting of brothers Jason and Jeff Matity from Saskatchewan, Stu McKay from Lockport, Manitoba and Holly Chow from Winnipeg, Manitoba. This behemoth eye was caught by the one and only Jason Matity from Team ReelBait® and as the drama played out the entire sequence was captured on video! It sported a 25 inch girth and nearly did not make it out of the 8.5 inch hole. A safe guess would be between 17 and 18 lbs. Once again Reel Bait came through, a 1/2 ounce Penguin Red Tail Flasher jig was used. “Jason you make all of us associated with ReelBait® Proud !”

“I have always said, that the ReelBait® Flasher Jig’s will be the lures that tame Lake Winnipeg”, says Organizer Stu McKay

This is the third documented walleye caught and released over 16 pounds this year on ReelBait® Fishing Tackle. One on the Columbia River System in Washington by Cliff Hollis, and the other by Rob Schulz of G&S Marina Outfitters on Last Mountain Lake in Saskatchewan.

For further information on this and future events please Contact Stu McKay or Holly Chow at the contact information above.

Al Patterson, owner of Reel Bait Tackle company in Seward, Nebraska sent me this release. Reel Bait makes quailty fishing gear for both open water and ice fishing. Check out their website, www.reelbait.com and give their equipment a try. This definitely is a bait for big walleyes. Tell Al where you heard about this walleye that was released by Team Reel Bait!
