HUNTING
DNR Staff Narrative: No prohibitions proposed. This property will be an 160-acre in-holding for an existing 4,900-acre preserve. No prohibitions are proposed. Permits obtained by entry in lottery are required for deer gun and bow hunting due to the high numbers of people interested each year. Bear hunting will not be allowed due to their significant role in the ecology of the site and to protect any bear that may be present. Spring and fall turkey seasons will follow state regulations. There will be no small game hunting due to the established and heavy use of this preserve by hikers and bird watchers consistent with 23.0916 (2)(b)(3). Limitations on large game hunting do not create a prohibition and are reasonable and consistent with 23.0916 (2)(b)(2).
