“For 82 years OWAA has focused public attention on conservation issues, and from time to time we recognize outstanding achievements,” said Rhoades, on behalf of OWAA and its 1,200 members.
“The fantastic work the RMEF does - to preserve, perpetuate and improve the quality of America’s great outdoors - deserves special recognition. … Congratulations to you for the last 25 years, and many, many more!”
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation began in 1984 with the vision of four men - Charlie Decker, Bob and Bill Munson, and Dan Bull - to grow an organization to help the elk through land protection and habitat stewardship.
Twenty-five years later, RMEF boasts a membership of 155,000 and an impressive record of conservation success: 5.5 million acres of habitat in 30 states protected or enhanced for elk.
The Elk Foundation has been an OWAA supporting group since 1987.
