Clements Fishing Barge

Even with all this rain, the river cleaned up by Sunday! No flood waters and the weather report is good this coming weekend. The water wasn’t dirty at all and we caught lots and lots of fish, but, the fish we caught were all small ones. It was nothing to catch 50 fish, but most were too small to keep. Started to get bluegills this weekend. That was nice to see, a few perch still around and now some northern moved in as well. Walleye and sauger both are plentiful, but it was difficult to get the right size. Couple big ones caught again but the large walleye are slowing down now. We started getting whitebass now as well, many were the perfect eating size and in this colder water they taste great. We had some not too long ago, I had Cameron practice his fish cleaning and had them for supper. Smallmouth and Largemouth bass are really churning up the water right now as well. A lot of fishermen having fun with those. I hope most are throwing them back so everyone can have the fun of catching them. So far this year fishermen releasing fish has been exceptional! Our hats are off to them. Northern Pike are just churning the water right now. Very easy to get a limit of northern, they are very plentiful right now.
