NPAA Conducts Great Youth Clinic at Hudson, Wisconsin
gengberg October 31st, 2008
NPAA/PWT/Hudson Chamber & Tourism Youth & Family Fishing Event Oct. 18th was well attended and fun for all ages a few weeks ago in Hudson, WI. Many NPAA members assisted as arrangements were made by Pat Sherley, Hudson Chamber Director of Communications and Programs, and NPAA member Frank Pilney #920 to enhance the “Spirit of St. Croix Days” in conjunction with the PWT Walleye Tournament and Championship Shootout Oct. 15-18th, 2008.
Oct. 18th, Frank Pilney and volunteers taught tips and techniques with special emphasis on “Learning to Dream Over a Bobber” slip bobber session and then encouraged the children and their parents to fish off the St. Croix Marina docks to see what lurk underneath. In addition, five challenged adults, along with a parent/guardian went fishing with pro anglers on the St. Croix with the help of Pat Sherley and the Hudson Chamber.
Previously, Oct. 12th, arangements were made again by the Hudson Chamber to take 15 school aged kids and their parent/guardian fishing with several pro anglers. NPAA member and volunteer, Mark Carlyle #662, and his young angler. Cheyenne Massie, had their picture published in the local newspaper, Hudson Star-Observer, on Oct. 16, 2008. This was her first walleye/sauger. Earlier that same day, she had shot her first deer, a fork buck, as part of the WI youth deer hunt.
Special thanks to NPAA members Frank Pilney #920, Theresa Meade #161, Mark Carlyle #662, Kirt Hedquist #292, Bruce “Doc” Samson #80, Dean Kaminski #293, Brad Davis #7, Karyl Walcher #791, and many more volunteers for making this possible. Photo’s attached.
