NPAA Members Dominate PWT Can-Am Challenge

VALLEY CITY, ND, August 20th, 2008: The National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA), a non-profit organization focused on growing the sport of fishing and increasing the professionalism of its members, would like to congratulate all the NPAA members from the US and Canada on their professionalism and participation at the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail “Artificials Only” Super Pro Can-Am Challenge on Lake Wabigoon out of Dryden, ONT. August 13-15th, 2008.

Along with artificial baits mandatory, the Can-Am challenge was unique in that a team captain from Canada and the USA picked 24 Contestants to fish against each other and themselves. Each team member was matched up with a different co-angler each day. Team Canada hailed victory over the USA by a margin of 9.32lbs. (592.27lbs. Canada and 582.95 USA). 731 fish were brought to the scales over the course of the event. This was a great testament for artificial baits, as PWT and NPAA supporter Berkley Gulp! was used extensively by most anglers.

Canadian team captain was NPAA Member - John Butts #251 From Dryden, ONT. USA team captain was NPAA Member - Gary Parsons #24 from Glidden, WI. Both did a tremendous job as team captains took the microphone as their team members crossed the stage.

Taking top honors as an NPAA member was 3rd place, Perry Good #16, from Brainerd, MN. “In practice I figured out that some big walleyes were suspended at a similar level as the top of the mid-lake rock reefs. I worked bottom bouncers, spinners, and Berkley Gulp! 6″ Nightcrawlers through these fish and it paid off.”, said Good.

The next and final two events for the In-Fisherman PWT will be at Sault Ste. Marie, MI Sept. 11-13th and the final event on the St. Croix River out of Hudson, WI Oct. 14-18th, 2008.
