Catfish Biting Well During Summer Months

Four Lake Guide Association member, Ron Barefield has been doing well catching channel catfish on the local waters of Lake Wisconsin, Lake Mendota, and the Wisconsin River. This time of the year the water is warm, there’s an abundance of algae, and overall fishing can get tough.Catfish and Barefield 7-27-08 Many fish species have been relating to deep water structure and becoming nocturnal in their feeding periods.

Catfishing seems to usually pick up with the fish becoming active as the summer warms. Live bait (night crawlers), cut bait, and stink will all catch fish this time of the season. Contact Ron at (608)-838-8756 for guiding information
