| SUBJECT: | The Nature Conservancy seeks grant for acquisition of land
Grant requested for Stewardship land acquisition project in Town of Bailey’s Harbor, Door County |
GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Nature Conservancy has applied for a 50% matching grant from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program to assist with the purchase of 40.73 acres of land in the Town of Bailey’s Harbo in Door County. The Nature Conservancy will provide matching funds to the grant award.
The property will be left in its natural state and will be open to the public for low impact recreational activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, nature study, wildlife observation, non-motorized boat access and photography.
The DNR has made a preliminary determination that the proposed acquisition will not involve significant adverse environmental impacts and neither an environmental assessment nor environmental impact statement will be required for this action.
