This winter started out to be a “real winter” next to the mild ones Wisconsin and much of the Midwest has experienced the last few years. Snow and cold had been the norm since November. But, the jet stream has moved north and the last month has brought mild weather and above normal temperatures to most of Wisconsin. The southern half of the state has even lost its snow cover. This mild weather has been a boom to Great Lakes trout and salmon fishermen. The tributaries to Lake Michigan are legally open to fishing year-round and all the tributaries from Milwaukee to Racine are open and free of ice. Continue Reading »
