The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has recently adopted the position that feral pigs are exotic, non-native wild animals that pose significant threats to both the environment and to agricultural operations. What does this have to do with Wisconsin hunters? This position now gives hunters another unprotected wild animal that can be hunted with no closed season or harvest limit. Feral pigs can be hunted and removed any time during the year as long as the hunter has a valid small game hunting license and permission from the landowner where they intend to hunt.
