Spring Turkey Hunting in the Badger State

The spring turkey hunting in 2004 should be another good year in Wisconsin. The reintroduction of the turkey in Wisconsin is one of game management’s greatest success stories. Wisconsin traded the state of Missouri ruffed grouse for the Eastern wild turkey in the late 1970’s. The wild turkeys were released in the southwest coulee country of Wisconsin which had all the requirements wild turkeys need; acorns (mast), hills, valleys, and agricultural lands mixed in with the forested lands.
